Florida College Alabama Camp

What Is So Special About FC Alabama Camp?
Our camp is located on Lake Martin in Alexander City which is about an hour and half northeast of Montgomery, AL. It is home to Camp-Smile-A-Mile, Alabama’s camp program for children with cancer. Alabama Florida College camp has used this campground since the early 90’s.

What spiritual activites take place at the camp?
As far as activities: campers are divided into 5 groups of boys and 5 groups of girls based on age. These groups meet every day and study the Bible together. A topic is chosen before camp and the counselors lead a study to go along with that topic each day. On Sunday & Wednesday night, everyone from the Junior and Senior camps join together for worship services. There are also daily devotions including lessons from God's word, songs of praise and prayer.

What is a day like at camp?
What activities can I participate in? Each day there is time scheduled for swimming in the pool (with adult supervision & a licensed lifeguard), jet skis, boating, fishing, etc. There are also daily craft activities and sports time. The campers are sorted into different "societies" or teams. Each are a certain color and have different cheers and each day they compete against another team playing different sports or relays. (Paintball and an Adventure Course as also available activities but are at an additional cost.) Each night there are special activities, which will include a talent show and a night when the Florida College Friends will come and perform for the campers.

Who are our counselors?
Our counselors are typically parents of campers, but we also have volunteers who grew up going to the Alabama FC camp and want to come back as counselors or helpers to continue to make the camp such a special place. Along with supervising (and participating) in every activity that goes on at camp, counselors stay in the cabins with the campers, eat meals with them and throughout the week make friendships with them. Both Junior and Senior Camps have directors who oversee the camps and help with any problems throughout the week. We usually have an average of 6 certified nurses who stay on the campgrounds around the clock to administer medications, help everyone stay healthy, and just in case any emergency happens to arise they are there to assist.

The friendly spiritual atmosphere is unlike anywhere else on Earth. Your child will never be the same after they attend camp. The camp is full of campers and counselors young and old, that return year after year, because of the special friends that are made here, and the spiritual growth that the camp encourages. You will not hear singing and devotions any better this side of heaven! Please join us!
